Decision take to operate Metro Rail to Parandur Airport!

The 2nd Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project is in progress at a cost of Rs. 69180 Crores covering a distance of 118.9 km.

Information has been released that the Chennai Metro Rail Administration has taken a decision to operate Metro Rails to Parandur (near Kanchipuram) where the Chennai Metro City Airport is to be constructed.

As regards the 1st Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, it covered a distance of 54.10 km in 2 corridors – from Wimco Nagar to Chennai Airport and the second up to St, Thomas Mount (Parangimalai) and it is now fully in operation!

The 2nd Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, at a cost of Rs. 69180 Crores, is undertaken to cover a distance of 118.9 km.

In this situation, the Chennai Metro Rail Administration has floated a tender to carry out a detailed survey and report the feasibility of the extension of the Chennai Metro Rail 2nd Phase Project!

As per this, Kenambakkam to Kilambakkam Bus Terminus via Maambakkam, Vandalur, and from Poonamallee to Parandur (New Airport location), and from Thirumangalam to Avadi.

It is expected that Chennai Metro Rail authorities will make the next announcement after the completion of sand tests in the above proposed routes!
