On Friday, 13th of January 2023, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department organised an international balloon festival at Pollachi in southern TN. This has caught the attention of many now. The locals and the visitors were present in large numbers during the festival and hot air balloons from various countries went up to the sky.
Information collected is that tens of hot air balloons belonging to countries such as England, Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Canada, Belgium, France, America, Vietnam and Thailand etc littered the skies.There was also one hot air balloon belonging to the TN Tourism Department. The Coronavirus pandemic has led to the temporary halt of this superb festival in the last few years.
According to a private school teacher who was present during the festival, seeing colourful huge balloons going up the sky was a sight to behold. He added that the balloon festivals were mostly held in foreign nations and must not be missed. The aerial beauty of the landscape was fascinating. The balloon festival was organised to showcase the culture and tradition of TN.
It must be noted that after examining several places Pollachi was considered for the balloon festival and that was done taking into account factors like environment, wind speed, land terrain etc. The balloon festival would make Coimbatore and Pollachi more famous. In the balloon festival what made many heads turn was the balloons that were in the shape of dinosaur and cartoon characters etc. This international balloon festival will come to a close on Sunday.
