Starting April 1, toll booths on national highways across the country are set to see an increase in fees. As per recent reports, the National Highways Authority has decided to increase toll fees once a year.
Of the 566 customs booths across India, 48 are situated in Tamil Nadu. As part of the decision, a 5 percent hike for cars and a 10 percent hike for trucks has been proposed. The Ministry of Highways will receive a report from the Highways Authority on March 25 regarding the tariff hike. Upon approval, the revised toll fees will come into effect from April 1.
This decision has been made in light of the rising costs of maintaining the national highways, as well as to fund future infrastructure projects.
