Nearly 8 lakhs residents of several suburbs have been served by Chennai Tiruvallur High Road. It is also the route used to get to neighbouring Tiruvallur district. The road is filled pot holes and the people who are suing this have to endure daily, bumpy rides on potholed stretches of the Chennai Tiruvallur High Road. The residents are appealing the State Highways Department to repair the road before the onset of the northeast monsoon..

According to an official at the highways department, a long-pending widening project for the road is set to begin in early December and will be completed within 18 months. The road will be widened from its existing 7-metre width to a minimum of 10 metres, and up to 14 metres depending on space available.
