The Chennai Metro Rail has introduced a new service for the public, especially women passengers. It provides a link transport service operated by women, for women passengers to reach their destinations without any risk or danger.
In a plan to ensure a safe journey for women passengers, the Chennai Metro Rail Administration, in collaboration with Rapido, a link transport system by bikes driven by women, has been introduced at some Chennai Metro Rail stations.
While inaugurating this new facility by flagging off the bike service, Rajesh Chaturvedi, the Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Company, shared, "The objective of providing utmost safety to women passengers is an extremely important aspect. As such, the link transport bike service, driven by women, has been introduced. The service of a total of 50 bikes driven by women has been introduced at Nandanam Metro Rail Station."
This link transport bike service is available at the Thousand Lights, Teynampet, Egmore, Saidapettai, and Government Garden Metro Stations.
"This service will be expanded and introduced in all other Metro Stations in Chennai based on the needs and services," added Chaturvedi.
The inaugural function was attended by S. Satish Prabhu, Additional General Managers of the Chennai Metro Rail Company, officers of the Chennai Metro Rail Company, and the Rapido Bike Service Company.
