Free Admission in Private Schools: Applications may be submitted from tomorrow (20th April)!

The Department of School Education of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that ONLINE applications for joining private schools under the Mandatory Right to Education can be submitted from tomorrow (Thursday, 20th April).

The notification sent by the Director of Private Schools, Nagarajamurugan, mentions:

"As per the Children`s Mandatory Right to Free Education Act, 25% of seats are reserved for economically backward children in All Non-minority private schools.

For the Academic Year 2023-24, parents interested in admitting their children to private schools can apply ONLINE from tomorrow (Thursday, 20th April) until 18th May. The website is www.rte.tnschools.gov.in.

Admissions can be applied for LKG classes in schools that offer this facility, and from the 1st Standard in private schools with this arrangement.

Applications received until 18th May will be scrutinized, and both the selected application details and the non-selected application details will be uploaded on the internet website and the Notice Boards of the respective schools by 5.00 PM on 21st May.

Age Limit: 
For admission to LKG, the child must be born between 1st August 2019 and 31st July 2020. For children joining the first standard, they must be born between 1st August 2017 and 31st August 2018.

Required documents: 
Parents interested in admission to private schools MUST submit proof of the child`s date of birth, a caste certificate if the opportunity for the group had been denied, proof for the special category, and for the economically backward group, the annual income of the parents MUST not exceed Rs. 2 lakhs, along with the necessary Income Certificate, and MUST upload these documents on the website.

Where to apply: 
Parents and applicants can apply ONLINE from anywhere. Further, arrangements have been made in the offices of the Primary Education Officer, District Education Officer, and the Offices of the Unified Education Circles.

Selection by lucky draw: 
In case more applications have been received than the number of seats available as reserved for this category, selection will be made by A LUCKY DRAW conducted on 23rd May. The lucky-draw selected children can be admitted.

The list of selected children will be uploaded on the web, as well as the notice boards of the respective schools.

The selelected children MUST join the schools before 29th May."
