In an effort to enhance convenience for Chennai Metro passengers, the Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) is set to introduce promotional tickets for free travel to residents living within a 5-kilometer radius of metro stations. This initiative was announced by Siddiqui, the Director of Metro Management, during a recent media interaction led by CMRL Managing Director Siddique in Chennai.
Highlighting the focus on passenger convenience, Siddique mentioned that several ticketing options are being introduced. Notably, CMRL has recently launched a new ticketing facility through WhatsApp, allowing commuters to purchase tickets through the messaging app. Additionally, plans are underway to facilitate ticket purchases through popular platforms such as Paytm and Airtel.
Tickets purchased through WhatsApp will be valid for a single day. However, once the ticket is used for travel, it will expire within two hours. In case of any server-related issues leading to ticket unavailability, refunds will be provided. The Transfer Ticket System will also be implemented, enabling the sharing of up to six tickets with friends and family.
The forthcoming introduction of promotional tickets aims to further incentivize metro travel. These tickets will be available for free or at discounted rates on specific days, exclusively for residents residing within a 5-kilometer radius of metro stations. This move is expected to encourage more people to utilize the Chennai Metro and experience the convenience of metro transportation.
With these new ticketing options and the upcoming provision of promotional tickets, Chennai Metro Rail continues its commitment to offering a seamless and customer-centric travel experience for passengers.
