The AMM Family Walkathon- 6 was held on the 23rd of September 2023, in commemoration of the World Elders day celebration.
“Be Healthy , Zero carbon , Donate Organs, Respect Elders and Go Green” are the event’s aim to create awareness on environmental issues and bringing together the members of the community promoting a social cause. An enthusiastic signature campaign was conducted on the above mentioned themes for the day.
The chief guest Mr. Hanifa, National race walker champion flagged off the event from the school premises in the early hours amidst the Correspondent Ms. Meyyamai Venkatachalam. Ms. Lakshmi Headmistress ,SRM School Ambattur, Ms. Mahalakshmi ,Principal AMM Sschool and Mr. Dushyanthan Vice Principal AMM School, parents, grandparents and students.
All our sister concerns TI school , SRM school, VCHS school and Murugappa Polytechnic, Avadi took part in the walk representing their alma mater.
As early as 5.30 am about 1000 participants geared up for the Walkathon. The chief guest addressed the gathering after which he flagged off the days proceedings. After a short warm up session participants commenced the walk in the pre-designated routes.
Four water points were organized enroute. Back in the campus, participants enjoyed a short relaxation session after which light refreshments were provided to all the participants.
On account of World Heart Day on September 29th, a talk by Dr. Arul Cardiologist, Apollo Hospital was arranged to address the gathering. His talk on health and cardiological issues, healthy food habits for adults and students was an eye opener for the enthusiastic participants.
There was a health screening camp by Apollo Health Centre, Perungudi and Omayal Achi college of Nursing; Blood donation camp by Cancer Institute and an Awareness of Organ donation by Mohan Foundation.
Efforts to have a total ban on plastics in the campus as a part of the “Go Green ” is an ongoing initiative in our institution. This event is to instill social consciousness on the importance of sustainable living and physically healthy citizens for the future.
