Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has recently inked a contract agreement with TATA Projects for the construction of five underground stations, marking another milestone in the city`s ambitious Phase-II metro project. This significant development comes as a result of funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The scope of this project encompasses the construction of underground stations at key locations, including Kolathur Junction Metro, Srinivasa Nagar Metro, Villivakkam Metro (Near Sub-urban), Villivakkam Bus Terminus Metro, and Villivakkam MTH Road Metro. With the award of UG06, CMRL has reached a significant milestone, achieving a 100% completion rate for the award of civil and track contracts within the Phase-II project. This project encompasses an extensive 116.1 km metro network, spanning three vital corridors in Chennai`s public transportation system, signaling a major step forward in enhancing the city`s urban mobility infrastructure.
