In anticipation of the Diwali holiday rush, Chennai Metro Rail has extended its services for the next three days, catering to commuters heading to their hometowns. From today until Saturday (Nov. 11), during the peak evening hours from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, metro trains will operate at a frequency of 6 minutes, providing added convenience for passengers.
With a daily ridership of 2.50 lakh to 2.80 lakh, the decision to boost train services is a response to the growing demand during the festive season. The Chennai Metro Rail Corporation issued a press release, stating the initiative is aimed at facilitating hassle-free travel for commuters going home for Diwali. The increased frequency will specifically apply during the crucial 8 pm to 10 pm time slot, ensuring a smoother and more efficient metro rail experience for passengers.
