Just recently, Cyclone Michaung created huge issues for the people belonging to Chennai and its nearby districts. The normalcy has returned back in most places now and that is superb. In this situation, the TN Public Health dept has sent 300 medical teams to Cyclone Michaung affected 4 districts including Chennai to carry out health activities.
A statement has been issued by the public health dept now. According to the statement, 300 medical teams (mobile medical team and RBSK team) were sent to storm affected areas to carry out disease control and preventive measures etc. It must be taken into account that 159 teams have been sent to Chennai Corporation, 60 teams to Chengalpet dist, 51 teams to Thiruvallur and Poonamallee areas and 30 teams to Kancheepuram dist. These have been affected by the floods caused by the Cyclon Michaung is well known. Prevention as well control steps must be taken in these areas.
To monitor the disease prevention and control activities in these 4 districts like Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur etc that were heavily water logged and flood affected, deputy directors of health and additional directors of health have been appointed.
Point to be noted is that these important persons must coordinate with the Chennai Corporation and dist officers etc to monitor medical camps, vector control, chlorination and other sanitary measures etc. The release revealed that the directors who have been appointed must prepare daily reports of the test results taken by these committees to the DPH and other concerned authorities.
