On January 24, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to inaugurate the Kalaignar Centenary Jallikattu Arena in Keelakarai, near Alanganallur, Madurai district. The construction of this arena, announced by the Tamil Nadu government in 2022, marks a significant milestone in promoting the cultural identity of Tamil Nadu through the traditional sport of Jallikattu.
In a message shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister Stalin expressed his excitement about inaugurating the grand arena. He emphasized that the Dravidian model government has meticulously designed the facility, underscoring the cultural importance of Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.
Situated at the foothills of Vaithumalai, the Kalaignar Centenary Jallikattu Arena boasts a state-of-the-art viewers` gallery with 3,700 seats spread across two floors. The facility includes essential amenities such as a bull shed, a bull barn, and a veterinary hospital, showcasing a commitment to the welfare of both participants and animals. Additionally, the premises will feature a museum, adding an educational and cultural dimension to the arena.
