The long wait of 11 years for the flower show is now over with TNAU or Tamil Nadu Agricultural University organizing the 6th edition of Covai Flower Show 2014. This flower show will take place for 3 days from 23rd of February.
The sensational piece of information is that after a long gap of 11 years this flower show will be held now. This has caught the attention now. The flower show would witness more than 3lakhs people and it would be jointly organised by Rotary clubs of Coimbatore. It must be recalled that last time the flower show was held in 2012 2lakhs people visited.
Concept of the flower show:
It is now said that the flower show concept would be Let Your Dreams Blossom.
The main objective behind organising the flower show was to create awareness regarding biodiversity, environmental conservation and economical value of the flowers to the students. It is known that flower shows were organised between 2005 and 2012. This was according to the VC of TNAU Geethalakshmi.
Types of flowers displayed:
The upcoming flower show in Coimbatore would display more than 200 varieties of loose flowers and exotic flowers of rare types such as banksias, leucospermum, hypericum plus others like peony, koechia, protea etc. Other major attractions in the flower show would be the handicrafts made from dry flowers and Japanese style of floral arrangement called Ikebana.
