Chennai`s traffic police have issued a detailed advisory concerning anticipated traffic disruptions due to Prime Minister Modi`s upcoming roadshow. Commuters are urged to plan alternate routes as heavy congestion is expected in several key areas.
Avoidance of the following routes is advised: GST Road to Annasalai YMCA, Nandanam to T. Nagar, GST Road, Mount Poontamalli Road, Sibet Junction, and 100 Feet Road. Additionally, it`s recommended to steer clear of Anna Road, SV Patel Road, Gandhi Mandapam Road, and all roads within Thiagaraya Nagar.
Furthermore, vehicular movement is restricted on Thyagaraya Road starting from 3 pm, and parking is prohibited on Venkata Narayana Road, G.N. Chetty Road, and North Path Road until the conclusion of the roadshow.
Certain restrictions have been imposed on commercial vehicles as well. From 2 pm to 9 pm, commercial vehicles are barred from Pallavaram GST Road towards Kathippara. Moreover, they are prohibited from Mount Poontamalli Road towards Anna Road and from CIPE towards Anna Road. Heavy vehicle movement from Vadapalani to T. Nagar, Valluvar Kottam, and Kathippara via Saidapet is also banned.
In addition to road closures and vehicle restrictions, traffic police have outlined alternative routes to ease congestion. Vehicles are advised not to pass through CPT via the airport and Gandhi Mandapam, as well as from Tidal Park via Gandhi Mandapam. Heavy vehicles are prohibited from Anna statue via Mount Road.
Enhanced security measures, comprising five layers of security, have been implemented across Chennai in anticipation of the Prime Minister`s visit. Commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with authorities to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during this period.
