Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will inaugurate the new Commissioner’s office on Friday. The new city police commissioner’s office on Poonamallee high road, opposite Egmore railway station, an upscale, nine-storey building. The building, located on the 21-acre premises, was ready for occupation. The project, started in 2009, was to be completed by the end of 2010. Though it got delayed, the city police have already set up a new control and command centre in the building.
The building will have one entrance on E.V.K. Sampath road and another on Atkinson road. The entry via Atkinson road will remain closed to the public and be used by senior officials and VIPs.
The new building is expected to have tight security including a foolproof access control system. There will be counters in a separate building at the entrance where people can submit petitions.
