Two months back a person was kidnapped in a call taxi in Chennai. Similarly a call taxi driver was kidnapped and murdered. The murdered sped away with the call taxi.

After these incidents, the city police has directed the call taxi operators to verify the credentials of drivers before recruiting them but many of the call taxi operators did not follow this. So P Thamaraikannan, ACP (North and West) convened a meeting with call taxi operators. 60 call taxi operators and executives participated in the meeting.
