Chennaites experience the coldest night on Wednesday

Chennaites experienced the coldest night on Wednesday. The night temperature was 20.3 degree Celsius. The meteorological department forecasts a few more chilly nights.
Though the city recorded a minimum temperature close to normal, residents felt colder as the night temperature had dropped from the 24 degree Celsius that was experienced until some days ago.
Officials of the meteorological department said the minimum temperature has not dipped below 20 degree Celsius this month owing to cloudy skies on most days. The city and suburbs experienced a trace of rainfall on some days.
However, nights are getting chilly since Wednesday due to cooling of the earth and less moisture content in the air. In the suburbs, Meenambakkam recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 19.7 degree Celsius on January 11, and the second lowest of 19.8 degree Celsius on Wednesday night. Last year, the night temperature dipped to 19 degree Celsius on January 14.
