Heavy fog slides down on areas surrounding Chennai in the early hours of the day. Hence from 7.20 AM to 7.50 AM, the flights from Kochi, Bangalore and Hyderabad were not able to land down in Chennai airport and rounded around the airport for about 15 minutes to get clear skies. Airport officials even discussed about diverting these three flights to the nearest visibility airports. And about 7.50 AM the fog got descended and the visibility got increased. Then slowly these flights were allowed to land in Chennai airport.
In the same way, the Chennai departure
flights faced delays in their timings. Due to the maintenance work carried out
in the flight parking area near the airline pathway, flights time lag for few moments
in airline before departure and thus the flights got delayed.
The Hyderabad flight to Renigunda, a suburban
area of Tirupati travelled with 55 passengers, was not able to land in
Renigunda airport due to dense fog. It got diverted to Chennai airport at
around 8 AM and allowed to departure at 12 NOON from Chennai to Renigunda
airport.
