Irrigation infrastructure in 11 districts: Inauguration by CM Jayalalithaa

A new reservoir was constructed  across the river Matanappallam at the cost of Rs. 14.15 Croes  to facilitate irrigation in Dharmapuri district, Pennakaram Circle, Mamakontaalli, Cuncalnattam, and Naaman Neruppur covering an area of 700 acres with 55.632 million cft.

Villages of Tiruvallur district, Ponneri Taluk, Jekanatapuram and surrounding areas will have groundwater concentrate receiving more than 0.12 million cubic feet of water.  

Flood affected canals in Vellore district, etc. were repaired. Drinking water facility is extended to 20 nearby villages. 207 acre lands will get irrigation water.

100 acres of land in Cuddalore district, villages in Virudhachalam, etc will get water for irrigation. Dams have been constructed and deep bore wells have been sunk in the area of villages around Nagalapuram. Dam has been built in Sivagangai district in Manamadurai area at the cost of Rs. 12.85 Crores.

Water storage reservoir walls have been built in Thiruvarur District, Mannargudi area at the cost of Rs. 45 Lakhs benefiting 700 acres of land by providing irrigation water.

A dam has been built in Tiiruchi District, Thuraiyur area benefiting 117.52 acres of land with irrigation water.

A dam has been built in Coimbatore district, Sokkanur area benefiting 295.07 acres of land with irrigation water.

A dam has been built in Erode district, Bhavani area at the cost of Rs. 54 Lakhs benefiting 65 acres of land.

Parambikulam dam won the ‘best dam maintenance’ shield for this year.
