Chennai Metro Rail to operate in 7 months

Chennai Metro trains will start running in 7 months. This was announced by the Mtero Rail Project Director, Mr. Narasimha Prasad.

The trains will run at an average speed of 40 m per hour. The 2nd day of test run between Koyambedu and Ash   ok Nagar covering a distance of 5.7 km was completed successfully.

Press reporters and some officials participated in the 2nd day test-run. The train was run at 40 km per hour. It took 20 minutes. The train ran without stopping in the stations in between during the first test-run for the day and reached Ashok Nagar in 8 minutes. While returning, it stopped at the stations. The test-run will continue. It will be gradually extended up to St. Thomas Mount.

The first quota of 5 trains has been imported from Brazil. The nalance 33 trains will be manufactured in Andhra Pradesh.
