Green Energy Corridors Project, Rs.1, 593 Crores worth mission of the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation (TANTRANSCO) will have been the State’s first power project. It has been funded by the KfW, a German Development Bank.

This project will mostly swathe southern and western districts of the state, where most of the windmills were established.

This pilot project will take care of diffusing power from wind mills (cub of generation) to all sub stations.

Due to the lack of the Centre’s support for the project, the State Government authorities resolute to look for the backing of the KfW. The KfW management nods their head to fund the project, says senior government official.

The Chennai Corporation is hauling the transmission project in Chennai location at a cost of Rs.5000 Crores along with the aid of Rs.3572 Crores loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The primary work for 400 KV lines to evacuate wind power at Thappugundu, Anaikadavu and Rasipalayam will be carried out at a cost of Rs. 1, 19 Crores. These works have been financed by the Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation.

The TamilNadu Urban Development Project has been taken up in the zone such as water supply and sewerage.
