14 urban common e-service centres across Chennai were inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday through videoconferencing from the secretariat.The information technology department has set up these centres at three taluk offices, three corporation zonal offices, two Metrowater depot offices andsix Urban Credit Cooperative societies.
In the first phase, the centres would issue certificates to beneficiaries willing to avail themselves of various welfare schemes, including free marriage scheme, said a press release. In the second phase, the centres will accept service bills like property tax, electricity bills and water bills.
