Work on full swing for construction of 16 Metro Rail Stations (50’ below the normal level)

Work is on full swing to build 16 underground Metro rail stations.

Metro Rail work is in progress in the 2 corridors – Washermanpet to Airport and Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount. 24 km tuneelling work is involved constituting 55% of the total distance.

16 underground stations will be 200 to 300 metre wide, and 50’ below the ground level, .5,000 worker are on the job.

The work on the 3-layered stations starts with the compound walls and the giant pillars. The stations will have CCTV camera, telephones, and firefighting equipment. Special facilities are made for the passengers. It will be a paradise underground on earth.

Shenoy Nagar station is built below the Par. Once the station construction is completed, the park will be restored completely.

100% Security

The stations at Central, Egmore, Airport, Madras Medical College, Stanley, Kilpauk, Super multi-speciality Hospital, Government Gardens, and Alandur will handle additional passengers. They are 100% safe.

The construction is expected to be completed by the year end (2014).
