Special Officers squad to monitor election expenses

Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Praveen Kumar informed that special Income Tax officers squad is being formed to monitor the election expenses by different parties.

After a meeting with the Income Tax officials, he informed:

A special squad of Income Tax officers is being formed to monitor the election expenses in each state.

Supervisory Officers have been appointed for all 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. An officer from the Income tax Department is being appointed to assit them in the monitoring.

Rs. 1.72 Crores has been collected so far as cash without proper documents. When carrying large cash, one should carry the necessary documents.

Booth slips will be issued 10 days before the election day. 9,95,305 applications from new voters have been collected in the recent special camp. A maximum of 1,385,000 applications were from Kanchipuram district. The minimum of 3,934 applications were received from Nilgiris District.
