Monsoon Brings in Power Cuts across the City

Though heavy rain soothes the blistering hot climate, the city residents are left with continuous power cuts and furors for several hours from Sunday onwards.

This power outages may even stretched from a minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of 12 hours.

In many areas across the city, people faced a troubled sleepless night, as there is no power supply all through the night. Especially Chetpet area senses low voltage and outages, from the time when the substation trapped into fire on Friday, causing damage to the transformer.

Even though people have given their grievances regarding the power disruptions and fluctuations to higher level officers, the problem was not yet resolved.

We have been facing an unscheduled power cuts for the past one week. It has been extending from one hour to 10 hours. Especially on Sunday, Power went off at 11PM and was not fixed up until early morning, says a resident of Velachery.

Heavy rain has brought in hurdles in transformers, cracking of overhead cables and thus led to the pulling up of electricity poles, says a TANGEDCO official. Workmen were busy in solving the war footing issues but we shown of that the load detaching was being conceded, he added.
