Survey for memorial for Dr. Kalam is on the go

Survey of land at Peikarummbu is on the go!

Teams of officials belonging to the central and state government headed to the site of proposed memorial for Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. This memorial is said to have a library, museum and a meditation centre as well, states CPWD executive engineer, Ganesan. Peikarumbu is where the body of Dr Kalam was laid to rest on 30th of July. And survey is being conducted for constructing a memorial here.

Ganesan said to the reporters that the level of ground in this area is too low and that it has to be raised up to road level, only then will the memorial be built. There are requests and demands for such a memorial from the public and Dr Kalam`s family as well. In addition to commemorating the Missile Man`s birthday as Youth Renaissance Day`, the Tamil Nadu government will also institute an award in his name.

Dr Kalam took his last breath in Shilong on 27th of July and was laid to rest at Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu which is his hometown.
