A study published in the journal Computers in Human Behaviour has said that too much time spent online can cause cognitive failures. This includes memory loss, the tendency forget small things or daydream. The study was conducted to study the effects of the excessive internet or mobile phone use on cognitive failures. It was conducted by researchers at De Montfort University at Leicester.

107 men and 103 women were tested. They were between 18 and 65 years of age, and spent an average of 23 hours a week online.
