Plans to set up retail outlets at the airport by year end

Chennai airport is one of the busiest and most active airports in the country. The passengers are soon to be provided with a new amenity - a good shopping exercise with pleasant memories even as they await their flights. It is gathered that the Airport Authority of India is planning and reviewing the possibility and to set up a professional agency which would be responsible for the setting up of the retail outlets for shopping. These are expected to start functioning by the end of this year.
As the 1st formality, a tender has already been floated to locate identify and select the agency that would be in charge of the setting up the retail shops selling the best of brands for a period of 7 years.
However, a glitch has been experienced in the ongoing process/progress which has delayed the tender bid opening date by 2 weeks. An official assured that ‘the request for the proposal will be uploaded again with revised dates soon’.
