The hugely popular wizard writer Balakumaran passes away

The popular writer and the dialogue writer for films, popularly titled and known as Ezhuthu chithar (wizard in writing), Balakumaran passed away suffering from very acute breathing problems.

Balakumaran was born in the year 1946 in a village called Palamaneri near Thirukattupalli in Thanjavur district.

He has written hundreds of short stories and over 200 novels.

‘Mercury Pookkal’ and ‘Irumbu Kudhraigal’ are two of his most popular creations apart from several others. He has also won several awards.

He has written the dialogues for some legendary Tamil films including Nayakan, Guna, and Gentleman.

Balakumaran has won several awards including the Tamil Nadu State government Kalaimamani.

Balakumaran, 71 years’ old, was residing in Chennai. He suffered acute breathing problems yesterday night. He was admitted to the Cauvery Hospital in Alwarpet. He was treated in ICU (Intensive Care Unit). However, the treatment failed and Balakumaran passed away after a sudden heart attack.

The sudden death of this hugely popular Tamil writer Balakumaran has plunged the literary world in deep sorrow.
