The Lorry Owners are set to go on strike throughout the country on 20th July in protest against the price increase of petrol and diesel.

The oil corporations have been revising the prices of petrol and diesel on a daily basis as per the price of the crude oil in the international market. Thus, over the last few weeks, there has been a rising trend in the price of petrol and diesel. This has affected the business of the lorry owners with difficulties in fixing the hiring charges.

In protest against the above development and insisting on the annual payment of toll charges, the Lorry Owners have decided to go on a 1-day token strike on 20th July.

The Lorry Owners’ associations have informed that starting at midnight 19th July, the total of 65 lakhs lorries operating throughout the country including 4.65 Lakh lorries operated in Tamil Nadu will not be operated.
