Phoenix MarketCity (Chennai), celebrates the essence of spring with installations across the mall made by craft artists. Jackfruit Research and Design has curated these installations. They have invited artists and flower craft experts this season to make exhibits at Phoenix Marketcity, Chennai.
This is a one of kind collaboration where crafts are displayed inside a mall space. All the three exhibits are handmade echoing the colours of spring.
Malini Narasimhan is renowned for her wedding decor but this time she was invited by Jackfruit Research and Design to make installations using only craft forms.
Annapurna Garimella heads Jackfruit Research and Design, she is an award-winning curator who believes it`s important to work with new spaces as sites for Visual Arts and Crafts who is supported by a team of young curators.
The Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu affiliated to the CCI has been working towards the enhancement in the livelihood of craftsmen from various regions of Tamil Nadu since 1988. Its various activities include skill development, design input, marketing for artisans along with documentation of regional crafts, and conducting exhibitions to sell their wares directly to the customer.
