Posted on: 01/Mar/2013 3:13:31 PM
A group of CMDA wing officials on Friday early morning removed all the foot-path shops which were encroached on the outside of the Koyambedu Markets entry point.

The team which was headed by the CMDA officer Udayakumar with the help of police reached the spot exactly at 5 AM, and ordered to clear all the petty shops from platforms. But some of the vendors when refused to obey the orders, the CMDA officials with the help of police forcibly took away all the vegetable and fruits from platforms and made a way for the wholesale merchants to run their business without any hindrance.

There were more than 50 shops which functioned on the platforms situated outside the Koyambedu market. These shops were troublesome and obstacle for the customers to have their business dealings with the wholesale merchants. The merchants who have established their business premises inside the market, are paying a heavy rent. It was realised that because of footpath shops the wholesale merchants businesses were affected badly. The merchants requested the petty-venodrs to move away from platforms. But they did not oblige.

The wholesale merchants jointly submitted a memorandum to the CMDA to take immediate action, following which the CMDA officials removed the shops that were encroached on platforms.
