Engineers are more employable says a survey

A recent survey across the nation titled Andhra Pradesh as a state with highest employability rate. West Bengal and Delhi also tops the list with higher rates of employment. The survey also concluded that engineers are the most employed in the nation than any other graduates.

The survey included more than 3 lakh students from 29 states and 7 Union Territories of India. Skill test dealing with English, critical thinking skill, numerical aptitude, domain knowledge and behavioral competence was conducted between July 15 and October 30. The survey clearly showed that MBA courses have already lost the appeal for most number of employment with 3 percentage drop in overall employment account. The skill test was conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education, UNDP and the Association of Universities along with other private partners.

Rajasthan and Haryana have also made it to the top ten states with highest employability. Among the cities Bengaluru tops the list followed by Chennai, Guntur, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Nashik, Pune and Visakhapatnam. Many tier two cities gained some important place in the survey denoting the employment rate not only restricted towards metro cities but also in other secondary cities of various states.

An important note of increased female employability was noted this year compared to last year with a rise from 38% to 46%. Male employability has a very slight increase from 47% to 48%. The survey also mentioned about the fact that more than 70 percent of fresh graduates expect an annual salary of Rs 2 lakh and more while other 47 percent expects an annual package of Rs 2.6 lakh or more.

Artificial Intelligence, Design Analytics, Research and Development are some of the key fields where large number of skilled graduates are expected for various concerned fields. Information Technology, financial services, manufacturing, transportation, packaging and shipping are other common fields where large number of employment takes place all through the year.
