Recipe for Poori-masala

As all of us are readily and gladly aware, most of the food items have exclusive variety side-dishes to relish in the best way! For example, for idli and dosa, the side dishes vary from chutney (many varieties), sambar, and masala chili powder and gingelly oil. However, for poori, the best and excellent side dish is the masala made with potato. Here is the recipe to make poori-masala.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes -2

  • Oil – as required

  • Mustard – a pinch

  • Cumin seeds – a pinch

  • Split Bengal gram (Kadalai paruppu) – a spoon

  • Dried chilies – 2

  • Ginger – half-inch piece

  • Green chillis – 4

  • Turmeric powder – quarter teaspoon

  • Onion – 1

  • Salt – to taste

  • Green peas – as required

  • Curry leaves – a handful

The recipe

Transfer the boiled potatoes to a bowl and smash. Place a frying pan on the stove and switch on. Add oil, allow to heat for some time. Now, add mustard. Allow spluttering fully. Now add cumin seeds. Add the split Bengal gram. Fry for a while. Once the split Bengal gram turns golden, add the dried chilies, finely chopped ginger, turmeric powder, and the slit green chilies. Fry well. Now add the chopped onion and fry until fully cooked.

Now, add the mashed potatoes and then the boiled green peas. Once potato gets cooked, add the curry leaves and keep mixing for some time. Switch the stove off. Tasty poori masala is now ready!
