‘Paruppu Sambar’ is one of the essential and prominent items in the fest taken in weddings. As it made from grain pulses, it is an excellent food item for the body good health.

Ingredients
- Bengal gram or split gram yellow lentil (Thuvaramparuppu) - 1 cup
- Small (‘sambar’) onions – 10
- Garlic – 3 pods
- Green chilies – 3
- Turmeric powder – quarter teaspoon
- Chilli powder – 1 spoon
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – a small quantity
- Mustard – 1 spoon
- Dried red chilies – 4
- Curry leaves – a handful
- Tomatoes - 3
Recipe
Take a pressure cooker. Switch on the stove. Add the split yellow lentil (thuvaramparuppu), small onions, garlic pods, green chillis, and the tomatoes. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and chili powder, Add a sufficient quantity of water. Now allow the steam to come out of the cooker, place the weight, and allow for 5 whistles. Keep aside.
Take a frying pan and add some oil. Place it on the stove after switching it on. Add some oil, Once hot, add mustard, dried chillis, and curry leaves and sauté for some time. Keep aside.
Once the lentil is cooked, add the sauteed ingredients to this tomato-lentil mixture. Boil for 5 minutes. Now, add the coriander leaves. Tasty, delicious paruppu sambar is ready.
