Tunneling work is on the go regardless of varied soil conditions

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited officials, here at Chennai, stated that the tunneling work done at Nehru Park Metro Rail is on the go regardless of the soil conditions. During the year 2011, CMRL made an agreement with the JV companies – Larsen and Toubro and Shanghai Urban Construction Group, an exclusive tunnel boring machine (TBM) was shipped from China.
Currently, eleven such boring machines are getting used in the country. Over a period of time, these tunnel passages will be connected with the underground stations.
