In preparation for the forthcoming Police Commemoration Day 2023, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced a series of traffic diversions on October 17, 19, and 21. These measures have been put in place to facilitate the smooth conduct of rehearsals and the observance of this significant event, set to take place on October 21 in front of the Martyrs Column at the Police Chief`s Office campus on Kamarajar Salai.
The traffic diversions will be enforced between 8 am and 9 am on the designated days. During this time, traffic flow in several key areas will be redirected to ensure the safety and efficiency of the Police Commemoration Day activities.
Here are the details of the planned diversions:
1. MTC Buses and Commercial Vehicles from Labour Statue to Gandhi Statue: These vehicles will be rerouted at Labour Statue, following a route through Wallaja Road, Anna Statue, Anna Salai Spencer Junction, US Consulate, Cathedral Road, Music Academy Junction, Nilgiris Junction, R.H Road, Luz Junction, R.K. Mutt, Mandaveli Junction, South Canal Junction, ultimately reaching their intended destination.
2. Vehicles from R.K. Salai to Labour Statue: These vehicles will be directed at Natesan Point, taking them through ICE House Junction, Besant Road Junction, and finally onto Kamarajar Salai, enabling them to reach their destination.
3. Vehicles from R.K. Salai to Adyar: Those traveling from R.K. Salai towards Adyar will be diverted at the R.K. Salai x V.M. Street Junction, leading them through R.H. Road, Luz Junction, R.K. Mutt Road, Mandaveli Junction, and South Canal Road to reach their destination.
4. LMV Vehicles from South Canal Junction to Labour Statue: These vehicles will be rerouted at Santhom High Road, guiding them through Karaneeshwarar Kovil Street, Karneeswarar Pagoda Street, Hamilton Bridge, R.K. Salai, Natesan Road Junction, ICE House Junction, Besant Road, and Kamarajar Salai to reach their destination.
5. MTC Buses and Commercial Vehicles from Adyar to Labour Statue: For vehicles traveling from Adyar to Labour Statue, the diversion will take place at the R.K. Mutt U-Turn, leading them through Mandaveli Junction, Devanadhan Street, R.K. Mutt Road, Luz Junction, Rayapettai 1 Point, Natesan Road, ICE House Junction, Besant Road, and finally, Kamarajar Salai.
It`s important to note that no vehicles will be permitted to travel from R.K. Salai beyond MRTS X R.K. Salai Junction. These vehicles will be redirected towards the Light House MRTS, taking a route through Lloyds Road and Kamarajar Salai to reach their desired destination.
The GCTP urges all commuters to plan their routes accordingly and follow the provided diverersions to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience during the Police Commemoration Day activities.
