Back Pain is experienced sometimes even by the healthiest people! Here are some interesting reasons for getting ‘back-aches’!
Sleeping on an old
mattress - A good mattress lasts eight to ten years. Replace them if
they are more than 10 years. There are chances that the spine is not getting
the support it needs. Mattress should not be too hard and even not too soft.
The curves of the back won’t sink in and won’t offer enough support.
Carrying a huge bag - Do
not carry things around! Carrying a heavy bag on a side of shoulder causes the
body to become imbalanced, getting the spine out of balance too. Switch to a
lighter bag. Ideally, the bag should weigh no more than ten percent of body
weight.
Wearing stilettos or
flats - High heels force to arch the backs. This puts stress on
joints. Flats can be bad as well depending on the foot type. Sandals without
supportive back cause feet to move from side to side and distribute body weight
unevenly. Everyone has an ideal heel height.
Holding a grudge - Researchers
at one university found that people who practice forgiveness experience fewer
feelings of resentment, depression, anger and fewer aches and pains. Emotions,
muscle tension and thoughts can directly influence the strength of pain
signals. Not only are grudges physically bad, they do not do much emotionally
either.
Sitting all day - Desk
job is not good for health! If proper posture is not maintained, it tends to
weaken the back muscles, due to inactivity! Sitting also puts 50 percent more
pressure on spine than standing does. Lean back throughout the day. Sit at a
130 degree angle in order to reduce compression of the discs in the spine.
Finally, be sure the head is straight, not straining forward, when using the
comp.
Stressing out - If the
individual is stressed, the whole body is also stressed! That includes the
muscles in the back! During stress, they do not relax and may cause pain. Be
aware that exercise, a warm bath, and meditation are stress relievers!
Skipping workouts - Exercise
builds muscle tone that is vital for supporting back. Lack of exercise may
result in experiencing stiffness and weakened muscles. The spinal discs become
degenerated. Workouts that strengthen the back and abdomen are the best choice.
Eating too much junk food - Not
surprising! Eh? An intake of high calorie and low nutrient food leads to weight
gain. That weight gain can put a load on back. Excess weight around the
midsection causes the pelvis to pull forward, creating stress for the back.
Overweight individuals are at an increased risk of osteoarthritis. Dropping
even 5 to 10 percent of body weight can improve back condition.
