A smart contact lens is getting developed by Google. This will be able to measure the glucose level of the wearer and this is achieved by testing the individual’s tears. Google explained about its potential designs about how the contact lens can be packaged.
It was earlier said that Google was in talks with US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to test the lens’ potentiality. This lens will be made available in five years from now, say reports.
This lens will be analyzing the tears of the individual. This trendy way will eliminate the need for pricking the finger for blood sample to check the blood sugar levels.
To a question triggered about making available the lens for general usage, Google representative stated that product releases cannot be inferred.
So far, about 44 patents involving contact lenses are awarded by Google. Further, 53 more patents are applied too. This indicates that the work on lenses is entirely on.
