There are many things that you need to pay attention to when walking, and most of all, these three which you are doing absolutely wrong.
If you believe that walking is just a lower body workout, oh, you are mistaken. Walking is a whole body workout that tones your legs, helps strengthen your core and back and also, tones your arms. But for that, you need to make sure that your arms walk too. By that we mean that your arms shouldn`t just hang on the sides while you walk. You should rather tilt your elbows at 90 degree and let your shoulders relax. Motion your arms in contrast to your feet, that is, with left leg in front, get your right arm forward and vice versa. One sign you are doing it wrong is if your palms feel swollen after the walk. If so, you need a change.
If you are over striding in an attempt to walk fast, chances are that you are not paying heed to how haywire this is making your gait. What you need to do instead is take shorter but quicker steps. You must walk fast by increasing the speed of your steps and not increasing the length of your strides.
This is another very common mistake because often, instead of rolling your forward foot and placing it from heel to toe on the floor, you tend to tap it flatly. This results in your foot slapping the floor at once. It can happen because of stiffness, wrong shoes or weak shins. To correct this, know what the reason is and try to eliminate that. For weak shins, you can perform toe raises or heel walking to strengthen them.
Often, walking can get hard if you are not dressed comfortably or are wearing uncomfortable shoes. The former can lead you to feel colder or sweat, depending on the weather and clothes and the latter can worsen your posture and even cause back aches. Choose clothes that are breezy but keep you warm and shoes that are not too soft or too tight and not heavy.
