For many years we have been hearing that smoking is dangerous to our health and it causes cancer etc. This hasn’t stopped people from smoking and we still see people smoking around us. It is known that the non-smokers are also badly affected due to smoking. We take great care of our face, skin and our looks. Not many of us are aware of the fact that smoking could affect our looks as well as our skin etc.

These are the various ways our looks and skin get affected by smoking.

Skin texture becomes weak - Skin is deprived of oxygen and other nutrients because of smoking. This would make our skin texture weak and dull. Not only that our skin tone would also become dull. Uneven colouring on our face and body would be present.

Presence of fine lines around lips - By smoking heavily for many years, our lips would be surrounded by fine lines. Certain muscles around our lips get nicotine when compared to other parts of our face during smoking. As a result fine lines occur around lips.

Sagginess of our skin - This is one important issue that could be caused due to smoking. The collagen and elastin are essential in maintaining the elasticity and firmness of our skin. The production of collagen and elastin get ruined because of smoking. The fibres of the skin get killed by the chemicals present in a cigarette. It is these fibres which play a huge role in skin texture strengthening. Finally sagging of skin occur leading to aged look in us. So avoid smoking.

Damaged teeth and gums - The presence of nicotine and various chemicals in cigarette affects our teeth and gums. The presence of spots in our teeth and gums makes it tough for us to smile freely. This issue is very common in those who smoke.
