Hospital management system (HMS) involves computerization of patient records.
A representative of TamilNadu Health Systems
Project (TNHSP) announced that, HMS will be implemented in Rajiv Gandhi
Government General Hospital, Stanley Medical College Hospital, and Government
Royapettah Hospital and several government medical college hospitals in
Vellore, Theni, Madurai and Thanjavur.
Health Management Information System (HMIS)
involves four components: HMS, Management Information System (MIS), College
Management System (CMS) and University Automation System (UAS).
The Deputy Director of HMIS, TNHSP states
that, as the first phase MIS was implemented in all primary health centers in
the State; as the second phase, it has been implemented in district headquarter
hospitals, Taluk and non-Taluk hospitals.
As the third phase exertion of HMI, about
eight Government medical institutions will be envelope by Hospital Management
System (HMS). Third phase have been launched by the Health minister Vijaya
Baskar at GGH recently.
The rest 37 medical institutions covered by
the directorate of medical education will be wrapped in the next upcoming
phases. Of the total of Rs.150 Crores allotted for HMIS, Rs.52 Crores is
completely for the third phase.
MIS involves
computerization of employee data, details of dosage of medicines, name of the
consulted doctors and date of the review.
