Chocoholics can rejoice as Kuka Xoco, an American company, has introduced the world`s first healthy chocolate prototype. The product is believed to have just 35% fat and sugar. The company achieved this by using pure cacao and sweetening it with a herb from Bolivia`s and Peru`s Andean region. Pure cacao is normally too bitter for the palate.
The new prototype was introduced at the World Chocolate Forum held in London. The company said that, if it worked, the chocolate could be used medicinally as well.
An official from Kuka Xoco said, This eliminates the need for sugar, sweeteners and much of the fat in chocolate, unleashing the medical benefits of cacao... (Our) long-term aim was to develop chocolate that contains just ten percent fat and sugar.
