Connection between Liver Function and Healthy Diet

Mediterranean diet originated from the European regions like Greece, Italy and Spain that consists of Whole Grains, Fish, Lean Meat, Fruits, vegetables, Olive Oil and Moderate Wine Consumption. The kind of diet model and scheme in this Mediterranean areas are adapted in many other countries for reducing weight and improving the overall health.

Red Meat is a very rare menu in the food plates following the Mediterranean diet and Fish acts as a main component of proteins and Omega Fatty Acids acting as an effective anti-oxidant. A recent study showed an increase in healthy liver function for the group strictly following the diet model of Mediterranean.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFDL) is a common health issue among large group of people who are Obese and also with an unhealthy lifestyle. The study was conducted with 1,521 people for the Framingham Heart Study. Participants were enquired and tested on regular basis with questionnaires and scans in a long term basis extending to several years. The study concluded the effects of healthy diet in the functioning of the liver, the 26 percent reduction in the liver disease risk for the participants following the Mediterranean Diet consistently throughout their lives.

Liver is the largest internal organ in Human body and some of the main functions it does in the Human Anatomic System are,

·         Storing excess sugar for later re-usage

·         Producing Immune bodies to fight against diseases

·         Breaking down fat through Bile Production

So the Liver Functions plays a critical role in determining the overall well-being and body’s capability to fight against toxins and external disturbances.

In the Study the members who do not follow a regular diet pattern and eating food at the times of absence of hunger sensation lead to fatty liver disease. Diabetes, Fatty Liver, High Blood Pressure, Auto-Immune Diseases can be easily prevented when one follows a regular pattern of healthy diet model and an active stress-free lifestyle.
