The shocking piece of news is women have both iodine deficiency as well as thyroid issues more when compared to men. As per the latest news it is now said that in India every third person suffers from thyroid issues and that is really worrying. The functions of thyroid gland are affected in those having thyroid problems.

There are many factors that cause thyroid issues and these are genetics, environmental factors, diet and lifestyle etc. People with thyroid problems in them often show symptoms like nervousness, poor concentration, rapid heartbeats, bloated feel, weight increase etc.

Intake of fibrous fruits, veggies is important as these provide food for the healthy gut bacteria.

Intake of more vitamin D - Low levels of vitamin D could lead to many thyroid issues in us so it is must to have more vitamin D. For those suffering from auto-immune diseases this intake of vitamin D is superb as vitamin D is anti-inflammatory.

Checking the iodine intake - This is also one way to avoid thyroid issues in women. Iodine plays huge role in the formation of thyroxine is known. It is important to keep a check on iodine intake for those having thyroid issues in them. Intake of sardines, eggs and cheese would be beneficial as these are superb sources of iodine.

Healthy fats consumption - Flaxseeds, ghee, coconut milk etc are few examples of healthy fats that must be consumed for the hormonal balance in us. Please note that insufficient healthy fats could lead to hormonal balance disruption. So selecting right kind of healthy fat foods is very essential.

Avoid smoking - These days we see many women around us smoking. This smoking could trigger thyroid disease. Issues like thyroid eye complications of Graves disease occurs in those women who smoke often.
