Here comes great piece of news for the residents of TN. At a total cost of amount of Rs 2857 crores, the state of Tamil Nadu has launched an ambitious healthcare programme. It is revealed now that a significant amount that is Rs 287 million USD or Rs 1999 crores would be funded by World Bank for the next 5 years. The main objective behind is to take the state health care to global levels.
On 4th June 2019, at New Delhi, loan agreement was signed between representatives of the government of India and World Bank. It must be noted that the agreement was handed over to Mr. C. Vijayabaskar, minister for health and family welfare. The important information is this ambitious health project is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare in TN. There would be special focus on the mental health programmes, non-communicable diseases management plus strengthening of emergency services and prioritising reproductive and child health programmes.
As per Mr. C. Vijayabaskar it is very clear that the state of TN is pioneer of healthcare in south India with 70 percent of delivery cases registered in the government hospitals. In the state of Kerala just 30 percent of delivery cases get registered.
To inspect the facilities provided at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences or AIIMS in Madurai, an eight member team from JICA Japan would be conducting inspection. It should be noted that the health minister Mr. C. Vijayabaskar was making his presence felt in the Union Christian Matriculation School in Chetpet, Chennai and was addressing the media at the inauguration of World food safety awareness programme.
The health minister expressed his concerns about the safe and healthy eating habits of the children and said sufficient awareness must be created. Beginning from 7th June 2019, the first world safety awareness programme would be celebrated throughout TN for 2 weeks. The minister shed light on how as many as 6 awareness programmes in Chennai has been organised.
It is important to note that on 1st January 2019, TN won the best state award in the Swasth Bharat Yatra (Eat right India movement). On that day the exemplary works of the state food safety department, food vendors and Bureau of Indian Standards were appreciated. The reason was these 3 mentioned were responsible for getting across the message ‘Eat Right, Eat Safe and Eat Healthy) to the people of TN by many awareness campaigns and programmes.
