The energy to the brain as well as for the body is provided by carbohydrates is well known.

The important point here is carbohydrates in the food are broken into smaller units of sugar. It must be noted that these smaller units are absorbed out of our digestive tract and they enter the bloodstream. Through the bloodstream, the blood sugar gets transported and energy is supplied to the muscles and tissues. For the energy, most of the body cells use carbohydrates glucose is known.

There are 4 types of carbohydrates and these are mono saccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. It is important to mention that that our body would show some signs if it is not getting enough carbohydrates.

These signs reveal that the carbohydrate intake is not enough.

Less energy and presence of fatigue throughout:
Our body would feel less energized and there would be fatigue throughout the day when carbohydrate intake is not enough. It is well known that one of the important functions of carbohydrates is to provide energy to the brain and nervous system.

Constipation issues:
Fiber rich foods like vegetables, beans, fruits etc have healthy carbohydrates and by not consuming these fiber rich foods there would be constipation issues in us. It must be taken int account that our bowel movement becomes smooth by consumption of enough complex carbohydrates like whole grain breads, cereals etc.

Bad breath issues:
It must be noted that when enough carbohydrates are not consumed by us then the body tends to burn the stored fats and proteins for fuel by a process known as ketosis. Smelly or bad breath is usually because of used up fats and proteins.

Feeling hungry always:
This is also one important sign that indicates that carbohydrate intake is not enough.  The fiber present in healthy carbohydrates could make us feel full. The point is when carbohydrate having fiber content are not consumed sufficiently then we would feel hungry.

Mood swings:
Lacking energy and feeling hungry always could make us irritated more. When we don’t eat enough carbohydrates then serotonin or feel good chemical produced in the brain would be less.
