One of the symptoms of stomach upset is diarrhoea. A person affected by diarrhoea would have atleast 3 loose, liquid watery bowel movements.
It is important to note that diarrhoea could last for few days and it could lead to dehydration due to loss of fluids.
There are certain foods that could result in diarrhoea in us. These foods are
Spicy seasonings intake:
It is brought out that spicy seasonings are the most common source of foods that cause diarrhoea in us especially if the spice is strong and we aren’t used to that spice. Point is irritation of the stomach lining occurs.
Artificial sweeteners intake:
Our lower intestinal tract gets disturbed when we consume alternative sugars like aspartame, saccharine etc. It is said that for those who have IBS the recommended treatment is to stop using artificial sweeteners.
Milk intake:
Not many of us know the fact that milk could also lead to diarrhoea. It must be taken into account that those who are lactose intolerant should not take milk as it might lead to diarrhoea. It is believed that this lactose intolerant runs in the families and could develop later on in the life. The persons who are lactose intolerant do not have the enzymes to break down the milk sugar. It is good to consume milk substitutes made of almonds, cashews etc.
Coffee intake:
The shocking piece of information is intake of cup of coffee could lead to diarrhoea in us. The caffeine in the coffee not only boosts our brain but also our digestive system. Along with coffee, if we add artificial sweeteners etc then they could lead to diarrhoea.
Garlic and onions intake:
The insoluble fibre content is very high in garlic as well as in the onions. It is revealed that the juices present in onion and garlic when broken down by the stomach acid could release gases that would irritate the bowels. The onions and garlic also have fructans (polymer of fructose molecules) that would be difficult to digest. It is said that gentler shallots and leeks would be suitable alternatives for more caustic onions and garlic.
