Also known by other names such as manila tamarind, Kodukka Puli, Ganga tamarind etc, Jungle jalebi or Madras thorn is a species of flowering plant belonging to Leguminosae family.

The reason why this fruit is called jungle jalebi is because of the fact that it is mainly picked from the road side or from jungle and then sold. The amazing piece of information is that all parts of this fruit like leaves, pulp, flowers, seeds, bark etc are used to treat many health issues. It must be noted that its greenish coloured flowers and pinnately compound leaves are superb.
