The joint director of the Public Relations Department of CMRL (Chennai Metro Rail Limited) has informed that on the special occasion of the beginning of New Year, the Metro services would be extended till 00.30 hrs.
With the double intention of attracting the public and earning more revenue, it has been planned to set up malls in the Chennai Metro Railway Stations. The activities for this project is set to commence shortly.
As there are more passengers travelling the Chennai Metro during the current Christmas festive season, the daily train service is extended till 11.00 PM.
In the 2nd Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, 3 corridors are planned - Madhavaram-Siruseri, Koyambedu Bus Terminus-Light House, and Madhavaram-Sholinganallur, covering a total distance of 107 km.
If you are traveling in the metro with a big baggage, things may not be so smooth for you, as the CMRL has set cap on luggage weight as 15 kg. It may affect both international flyers and those wanting to travel by train.
